Conclusion:

Raidmax continues to impress by offering unique, high quality items at a reasonable price. The Raidmax X1 case is no different. With the front LCD panel, and the speaker grill side panel fan, this case will be sure to get some attention! The X1 isn't as flashy as some of the recent "gaming" cases, but does retain enough of the "gaming" case feel with the front LCD, hidden drive bays, and a beautiful side panel. If you are looking for a gamer type case that would also be comfortable in any other location, the X1 is for you.

The X1 gets high marks in all categories except for the power supply. If they would include a power supply with 2 or more SATA connections, this case could get perfect marks. The tool-less drive latches will securely mount your drives, so you don't have to worry about them if you move your box around. The change in the hard drive cage allows you to access your hard drives if you tend to swap drives around, plus keeps them out of the way of the motherboard, so you won't run into as many space issues. And finally, while making the case out of steel will add weight, it does give it a good amount of durability.

The X1 cools very well, while keeping the noise level to a minimum. A rear 120mm exhaust is included, which will help to pull the maximum amount of air while keeping quiet. Including a 80mm intake case fan above where your processor is will help keep it cool as well. If the side 80mm intake fan isn't enough for you, you have the option of adding another 120mm fan in the front of the case next to the hard drive cages. This will not only pull in cool air, but will also blow the air across your hard drives.

According to a search of the web and PriceGrabber, the Raidmax X1 is priced at $74.99 at ZipZoomFly.com and NewEgg.com (see table below). Raidmax now has their own outlet, buyraidmax.com, where you can also pick up the X1 case for $79.99.

Given the style, features, and price, I have to give the Raidmax X1 ATX Gaming Case a final score of 4 out of 5 stars... "Recommended".

Final Rating (4 out of 5 stars):

Pros:

• Inclusion of digital meters for temperature, fan rotation, and HD activity
• Easy to use tool-less drive mounts for 5.25 and 3.5 bays
• Good location for front USB/Firewire/headphone
• Looks great! Incredible high gloss paint finish! Window is crystal clear!
• Light weight

Cons:

• Little difficult to mount hard drives
• Power supply cables not wrapped
• Only one (1) SATA power connection
• No reset button
• No case thumb-screws
