RaidMax Ninja 918 ATX Gaming Case - Page 5 of 6 |
Cooling:
The Ninja 918 ships with two fans; a 120mm on the rear panel as an exhaust and a blue 80mm LED fan on the side panel as an intake. As mentioned before, there is a spot on the front panel for your choice of an 80, 92 or 120mm fan. However, no fan is included with the Ninja 918 on the front panel. The stock cooling set up does provide adequate cooling and does so virtually silently. You will be hard pressed to even notice the noise level of the stock case fans.
Not only is it quiet, but it also shows some improvement in cooling over the RaidMax Cobra case this system had been living in for the last year or so, as shown by the comparison chart below. It should be noted that the ambient room temperature was 80F/27C and temperatures were taken with a digital temperature probe.
I wanted to see if I could improve the cooling in the Ninja 918, and since I just happened to have two 120mm Blue LED fans that spin at 1800rpm I put one of them up front in the empty spot and replaced the stock 120mm on the back panel. With the addition of the front fan and the rear fan being of a higher rpm than the stock fan, noise level of the Ninja 918 was slightly higher than with the stock configuration, but still what I consider very quiet. As seen on the comparison chart below, the temperatures were lowered enough that I think the extra fan power is a worthwhile addition to the Ninja 918 case.
