Internal Features:

With the case open we can take a look at the inner features of the CSX-502. Considering the size of this case it brings to light the downfalls of a mid sized tower. With less room to create space for air to move around, the warmer the components might get. Moving on, the edges of the case are folded over or rounded off where necessary to prevent injury while installation of a system. All PCI slots have covers and are of the easily removed type, a motherboard port cover is also included.

Yet another good feature of the case are the removable hard drive bays. This allows the user to remove the entire hard drive tray by just unscrewing a large thumbscrew. Although it is a great added feature, later in the review we will see how useful this feature really is.

The top mount exhaust fan and the front panel temperature display lines only add to the number of wires already inside the case. All the normal wires are present; Firewire, thermal sensor, headphone/microphone, USB, power/reset/hd led/power led, plus a molex connector with one pass through. To me just looking at the case already makes it look cluttered and demonstrates the lack of space to route wires.

Included with the case are all the essential items. There are 14 included tool-less connectors used for attaching both the hard disk drives and optical disk drives(DVD/CDRW). Four tool-less connectors are include for installing the 3.5" floppy disk drives. Also included is a bag of screws and washers used for attaching the motherboard to the case. A piezo speaker is also present, along with the necessary foot pads which were surprisingly not pre installed. Not pictured is the power cable which was also found inside the case.

Power Supply:

The included 400 Watt power supply is what I expected. The power supply enclosure is plain and ordinary, there are only two vents; one being the intake for the fan and the other for exiting air. The normal voltage sticker is present and visible even when installed in the case. Inside, the heatsinks are a decent size but no cooling fan is included. There is one 80mm fan that doesn't seem to push much air, but it is quiet and does its purpose. I would like to see another fan included to provide some airflow over the heat sinks. Although one cannot expect too much from a power supply that is included with a case such as this.

Pictured below is the usual sticker with the power supply's information.

The wiring is again ordinary and what I expected. There are six (6) molex connectors, with one wire containing a SATA power plug. A standard 20-pin and 4-pin connector is also available, though there is no 24-pin connector. This is on the low end of what I would call adequate. With the front panel temperature display taking up a power connector and the 3 additional slots for fans, every connection will have to use the pass through feature.
