Conclusion:

Overall the three drives work well, but your decision on which to purchase would really come down to which of the above categories is most important to you. For the hardcore user looking to transfer large amounts of data you would have to go with the Kanguru Quicksilver. For those of you (like me), the Transcend StoreJet, while a little slower, takes the prize because it is small enough that I would actually carry it with me so I’m likely to have it when needed. After all that is what a portable drive is for.

Transcend StoreJet Final Rating (4 out of 5 stars):


Transcend StoreJet Pros:

• Extremely small size and weight
• Most likely to actually be carried around
• No external power source required
• Attractive enclosure and case

Transcend StoreJet Cons:

• Decent performance but not as good as some of the competition.
• 1.8" hard drive may be more difficult / expensive to replace or upgrade
• USB cable is not as common so you will have to carry it.
• Case does not hold cable.

Kanguru Quicksilver Final Rating (4 out of 5 stars):


Kanguru Quicksilver Pros:

• Case appears to be very durable
• Great transfer rates
• Enclosure is cool looking and the Kangaroo LED is slick
• Upgrades or replacement drives should be easy.

Kanguru Quicksilver Cons:

• A little too big and heavy to be carried daily
• USB cable is not as common so you will have to carry it.
• Case doesn’t hold cable
• May require additional power

ME-910 Final Rating (3.5 out of 5 stars):

ME-910 Pros:

• Pretty good transfer rates
• Offers the most options for connectivity
• Upgrades or replacement drives are simple
• Case holds all cables needed

ME-910 Cons:

• High CPU usage
• Does require additional source of power for extreme use
• Big and bulky compared to the newer competition.
