-= Sunbeam LED Projector =-
As with all the other Sunbeam Tech products reviewed here, the LED Projector is packaged in a plastic snap together pack. Inside the package is the LED Projector, adhesive foam, and three projection images. The projector I received is available in a red LED, it is also available in the standard colors, bue and green.
The projector is removable from the base, which would allow a few additional positions for it. Otherwise while it's on the base it can be adjusted in virtually any position. There are of course limitations on its position, but if you need one of those positions you need to select a different mounting location.
There's not much to the installation of this unit, most of the installation is dependant upon personal preference. Decide where you want the image to be, and then choose the correct distance and mounting location. I would recommend getting it figured out before using the adhesive foam tape. Once the tape is applied it's hard to remove, and if you do remove it, it's unusable after that.
The cable for the LED Projector is extremely long! It's 6 feet from the projector to the Molex connector. This will allow you to plug it in to your power supply, and give you plenty of cable to mount it outside of your case to shine on a wall, ceiling, or any surface! Of the images provided, I found a five-foot distance was the maximum for it to shine in a dark room. In fact, I had to disconnect all the lights on the inside of my computers to get it to shine brightly on the wall.
There are three images provided. The images below show the alien and the ever famous middle finger.
And the next image shows the third image, the dragon.
The pictures above really don't do them justice, as red light is hard to get a good picture of. If none of the included images are to your liking, you are able to makes your own images very easily. Just get a piece of heavy duty transparency and print out your design in solid black. This could take some testing and playing around with, but it can be done.
Conclusion:
This has to be one of the most unusual uses of a computer power connection out there. In today's world where people have so many lights in their cases, this LED Projector seems to fit in perfectly. However, it's really only visable when the room is totally dark, which will be hard to achieve if you have lights inside your computer. If it were battery operated or powered some other way, it would be a good little toy to have in your room.
Pros:
• Extremely easy installation
• Make your own logo
• Long Cable
Cons:
• Must be used in a dark room
