Quality and Performance:

Below we have a close up look at the Acousti Products Ultra Quiet Low Vibration Dust Proof Cooling Fan. Acousti Products touts that "One of the unique features of these fans is that the motor has been completely sealed from the outside environment, and this cuts down the ability for noise to leak out from the motor and also eliminates dust ingress!" As a result, the life expectancy of each fan is greatly increased. The "highest quality double-ball bearings available" are also installed to ensure a quality product. The fans are noticeably quieter. I could not even hear the fans over my CPU cooling fan. With the 92mm fan spinning at only 1600rpm and pushing roughly 28cfm, these fans are by far your most powerful choice. What you have here is a fan that will last longer and continually provide a greatly decreased noise output compared to most other fans.

Installing the 4-pin molex connector isn't the difficult part about using the included connection. Nor is understanding the simple process of choosing one of three connectors to provide either full(12V), medium(7.5V), or low speed(5V). The difficult part is understanding why it is necessary to leave all of these excess wires in the case while only using one. The sheer bulkiness of the connection leads me to believe that many building their own systems will stick with the 3pin motherboard connection and skip the excess wiring.

Seen below is the recommended Anti-Vibration Soft Silicone Fan Gasket. The gasket is made out of 2.5mm thick silicone plastic, which Acousti Products believes is the "thickest and most effective available anywhere." Being so soft and thin the gaskets can be a pain to attach to the fan unit. The lip designed to hold onto the edge of the unit does not provide enough rigidity to allow for the convenient mounting of the fan. Once the first screw is in place this is no longer a problem and installation is a breeze. Along with the installation of the Acousti Products Ultra Quiet Cooling Fan, the fan gaskets provide excellent relief to those experiencing vibration troubles.

The Silent Anti-Vibration Silicone Case Feet are made of a soft silicone that, as Acousti Products web site says, " are designed to decouple a PC case from the floor or substrate by absorbing vibrational energy, and therefore helping to minimize noise generation caused by vibrations." I could not detect an audible or vibrational difference using the Anti-Vibration Case feet. I am positively certain that they do provide some form of vibration and sound absorption, although not detectible to the average user. Acousti Products also recommends their products for other applications. They also can be used on Inkjet and Laser Printers, HiFi Separates, TVs, Small Form Factor PCs, and Home Theater PCs. I can surely see these feet being more effective on speaker enclosures resting on hard services where vibration might be an issue.

Conclusion:

Choosing and building an adequate cooling system for your personal computer can already be a rather daunting task. There are many options to today's builders, and each person's system is a different mix of parts brought together by the designer. Some may find the use of these products beneficial while others may not. It is definitely a matter of opinion. Personally, I did not have many vibration issues with my case, and with the installation of the Acousti Fans and Soft Silicone Fan Gaskets I still managed to greatly reduce the noise produced by my system fans.

Looking around at availability, it doesn't seem that many places carry Acousti Products fans. This may be with good reason, the 92mm goes for $29.95 from Quiet PC, and the 80mm burns yet another hole in your wallet for $27.85. These prices are extremely hard to justify, especially when talking about system fans. However one could argue that the fans provide an excellent means of quiet operation meshed with longevity not usually seen in system fans. This to me is still not enough to allow myself the necessary free spending that would be required to purchase nearly $60 before taxes on two case fans. The silicone fan gaskets and case feet are reasonably priced at only a couple dollars each.

Quiet PC's Acousti Products bundle including the Ultra Quiet Low Vibration Dust Proof Cooling Fans, Soft Silicone Fan Gaskets and Anti-Vibration Silicone Case Feet provide excellent options for anyone designing their own cooling system. Acousti Products earns 4 out of 5 stars for providing innovative cooling solutions designed to extend system and component longevity.

Final Rating (4 out of 5 stars):

Pros:

• Dust proof? I like the sound of that
• Fans are extremely quiet
• Gaskets further reduce vibration noise
• Fans provide adequate flow or air to assist is system cooling

Cons:

• Price is very high
• Molex connection is quite bulky
