A while back we reviewed the second generation August Smart Lock and overall we were very impressed with the features and value but there were a few niggling issues. Some of these issues could be addressed by the August Connect and August Smart Keypad we also reviewed. But while this is still a solid choice there were a few issues that were never quite to my liking. Recently I started to have some issues with my lock and after working with August support to try to resolve the issue they opted to swap out my lock. In this case they sent me the latest version; the August Smart Lock Pro. While this is a familiar design it does add some notable features and I thought a brief review was warranted.



Features and Specifications:

The 3rd generation August Smart Lock, now labeled as Pro, has all of the features of the 2nd generation lock plus it adds DoorSense Technology and Z-Wave Plus. DoorSense is a clever sensor used to determine if your door is closed. Z-Wave Plus allows you to connect this lock to a multitude of home automation hubs to directly integrate its operation with other smart devices in your home.
