Product Specifications (taken from Arctic Cooling website):

Easier Installation:
   • New clip and back plate design for better fit.
   • Thermal paste is already pre-applied to the heat sink.
Enhanced Compatibility:
   • New fan casing design to enhance compatibility.
Ripple Noise Solution:
   • A filter is integrated into the PCB to reduce the noise generated from the motor.
Extremely quiet:
   • A large fan and optimized fan blades offer a minimum noise level at a high air flow.
Unique Cooling Performance:
   • Highest fin surface area and a 2.5 mm thick copper base achieve best cooling performance at its noise level.
High Service Life (L10 at 30°C: 274000h):
   • Our ARCTIC Ceramic Bearing (alloy bearing and Ceramic shaft) provides our fans with an outstanding service life.
6 Years Warranty:
DHES (Direct Heat Exhaust System):
   • The DHES draws cool air from inside the case and exhausts warm air outwards. This prevents the fan from recycling warm air to cool the GPU, which increases cooling performance.
   • Further the DHES lowers the air temperature inside the case, because the heat of the GPU will be carried out directly.
Easy Installation:
   • Compared to our VGA Silencer, we could ease the installation process significantly.

Installation:

Well, here’s where we start to have fun. Installation is very simple, umm for one card that is. The original plan was to install two card coolers on a SLI system. For this application the new DFI SLI-DR board is used. These next few images show the process of installation. We begin with a view of the stock card. This is the Rosewill 6600GT SLI capable card. Notice the size of the stock cooler, which is much smaller than the Arctic Cooling NV silencer. The second image shows the clips holding the stock cooler on. This is easily removed with a pair of needle nose pliers.

The lower left image shows the stock thermal compound sparingly spread across the cards processor. This thermal “paste” was almost a chalky residue and seamed to be rather inadequate for any cooling purpose. The image on the right shows the application of the provided Arctic Cooling paste (which was smoothed out before completing the installation).

The next steps in the installation are also rather simple... Just place the card down over the cooler, ensuring that the holes line up properly with the studs. The back plate is then installed; the rubber insulator is placed under the back plate and is extremely critical. After installation it should look similar to the images below.

As mentioned above, the pair of NV Silencers was intended to be installed on a SLI motherboard. Unfortunately this proved to be impossible. The pictures below show the cooler installed on the upper of the two video cards and the lower card not quite fitting. Notice the “cone” of the fan rubbing the lower card.

Do NOT try modifying the fan. I’m actually kind of embarrassed of the results. I attempted filing down the fan and modifying the coolers to allow them to fit. The final results were a fan that was out of balance and came to a grinding halt. Luckily I didn’t burn up my video card when the fan stopped turning. I ended up using only one cooler attached to the lower of the two cards and a stock cooler attached to the upper.
