Everglide Titan MonsterMat Mouse Surface
|
For serious computer game players, having an edge over the competition doesn't end with items like video cards and processors. Just about every component in a computer system can have some impact on in-game performance, and input devices are no exception. Everglide is a company that recognizes the special attention competitive game players pay to some components that many of the rest of us might take for granted. The core of the Everglide product line-up revolves around mice and mice accessories.
Presently Everglide offers a high performance gaming mouse, mouse pads, and mouse feet that are intended to reduce the friction between your mouse on the surface it is resting on. We'll be taking a look at a variety of their products in future reviews, but up for review today is the Titan MonsterMat Mouse Surface. The image above may make the Titan look like your typical cloth mousepad, but there are a few fairly unique features that may appeal to potential users.
Before jumping into the heart of the review, let's take a look at some of the published data from the Everglide website.

» Award winning Fibertek surface technology:
The new Everglide Titan mousing surface is engineered with the award winning Fibertek surface technology, developed exclusively for the professional gamer in mind to revolutionize the next epoch of precision gaming.
Fibertek technology is dedicated cloth weave which is incorporated in the surface of each Everglide Titan. The intricately woven fibers of the Fibertek surfaces ensure precise targeting and tracking without limiting the velocity or acceleration of mousing movements.
The first thing that jumps out at you is the size of this thing! In case you are not good at converting units, the dimensions provided translate to roughly 17-1/2" x 14". The actual review sample measured about 17"x14" to be precise, which is still huge and about as big as three of my current mousing surfaces combined.
Packaging:
Although it does nothing for the performance of the mousing surface, the packaging is quite interesting. As shown below, the Titan MonsterMat is sold in a cylindrical metal tube with resealable cap. This will no doubt protect the mat while in transit to you, and could be reused to protect your mat while travelling to LAN parties. Inside the packaging you will find the MonsterMat rolled up inside a plastic bag with a sheet that provides some of the basics regarding the mat and Everglide.
