Does anyone have experience using HP cameras and printers in Linux? Is there anything like HP Director for it?
My inlaws were given an HP digital camera and color photo printer kit... but they have no usable computer. Sure, they can print pictures, but now that their little flash card is full they can't take any more...
So, I want to build them a basic PC. Don't have the harware lined up yet, but that should be the easy part... I want to use Linux since this is a freebie, but don't know how easy it is to acquire pics from a camera or print them...
Thanks. |

Well, this would be the only PC in the house, so sharing won't be an issue...
Just as long as that one can view, save, and print pictures with reasonable ease it should be fine.
Think that is possible?
May have found a deal on a used Dell PIII 1.3 GHz... |

I don't know about HP software on Linux, but you can plug in the SD card if you have a reader and access it like a folder. If you plug in the camera directly, most also work the same way - just access them like a folder. Never used an HP model but if they're like Kodak you may need to use gphoto2 to access the camera. _________________ 5 home-built PCs, ASUS A6Jc Laptop, and a PowerEdge 2650 - all running Gentoo. Oopen to suggestions there. Don't care what I use, if one choice happens to have better options. Was planning on using Fedora, as I have made it look pretty much like Windows on my Daughter's PC, and would just do the same again here... Unless someone had a better idea. |
