Does anyone have experience using HP cameras and printers in Linux? Is there anything like HP Director for it?

My inlaws were given an HP digital camera and color photo printer kit... but they have no usable computer. Sure, they can print pictures, but now that their little flash card is full they can't take any more... Laughing

So, I want to build them a basic PC. Don't have the harware lined up yet, but that should be the easy part... I want to use Linux since this is a freebie, but don't know how easy it is to acquire pics from a camera or print them...
