Testing (continued):
HD Tune Pro 5.0:
HD Tune has many functions for drive maintenance, including SMART status, secure erase, error scanning and benchmarking. The benchmarks run were Sequential Read and Write speeds. In addition, the 4KB Random Read and Write IOPS are presented in the File Benchmark section of HD Tune.
The Vertex 4 was the fast drive out of the selection, reading the data a few MB/s faster than the Intel 520. While this isn't a huge difference, it can mean saving some time.
Once again, the Vertex 4 pulls well ahead of the competition in the write speed tests. Coming in just over 150MB/s faster then the Intel 520 is a huge difference.
The OCZ Vertex 4 advertises that it is capable of higher IOPS than the other drives included in the tests. Unfortunately, the Intel 520 received better read IOPS scores than the Vertex 4.
While the Intel 520 had better read IOPS scores, the Vertex 4 once again takes the lead in the write IOPS results.
