Testing (continued):
PCMark Vantage:
The hard drive suite from FutureMark's PCMark Vantage (64-Bit) was up next, and six of the individual results were selected to be displayed for comparison purposes. Each test provides results with units in terms of MB/s, where higher is better.
Application Loading is the first portion of the benchmark that we'll investigate. As the name might imply, this test is intended to simulate the loading of a Windows application, and at about three times the speed of the closest competitor, the Vertex 2 looks like the drive for the job.
The second set of results from PCMark Vantage are for Gaming. The other drives close the gap seen in the first test, but the Vertex 2 couldn't be caught.
The third graph shows the PCMark Vantage simulation of Windows Vista booting, where the Vertex 2 puts up a score just over 200MB/s, which is close to double any of the other drives!
