Conclusion:
Currently, the only US retailer listed on the
Nitrox website offering the iConn+ is
Amazon.com. It is unfortunately listed on back order, but normally sells for $79.99. While that may seem steep, other external add-on batteries for the iPhone retail right around there, but do not offer a full protective case. In fact, most certified hard-type cases retail for around $30-$40, so the addition of the battery seems like a good deal, especially if you're a heavy smart phone user.
There are a two things I might change about the Nitrox iConn+ if I were one of their engineers. First, I would use the 30-pin Apple Dock Connector instead of the mini-USB pinout they have chosen. Second, I would include some kind of belt clip. If the extended battery is targeting the "power-user" market, then it should have a clip.
All in all, the iConn+ is a pretty great device. It potentially doubles the poor battery life of the first generation iPhone, and extends what is already pretty decent life in the second and third generation devices. The added feature of a full protection case means this is a pretty good value for your hard earned dollars.
Having said that, the
Nitrox iPhone case with battery receives the Bigbruin.com "Good Value" award.
Pros:
» Lightweight and not overly bulky
» Doubles the battery life of any iPhone
» Charges quickly - and can also charge the phone's internal battery
Cons:
» No belt clip
» Uses mini-USB connector instead of 30-pin Apple Dock Connector
