Packaging and Accessories:
Dropcam actually provided two of their Dropcam HD cameras to Bigbruin.com... one was reviewed and one was given away in a forum based contest.
The camera is packed in a compact box that gets right to the point. On the front you see what is about a full scale depiction of the Dropcam HD, and the text "Wi-Fi Video Monitoring - For home, baby, pets and business". The back touts a few of the key features, and lets you know that apps are available from Apple and Google to further simplify your interaction with the camera.
The outside of the box is a sleeve, that when removed reveals a blue box that hinges open to reveal the Dropcam HD. The camera is pre-assembled in its aluminum stand and placed in a form-fitting plastic tray in the box. Removing the tray with the camera reveals a lower tray that houses the items shown in the below right image... a fairly heavy duty USB cable, a USB/AC adapter, and a small pack of screws and wall anchors in case you want to make your installation semi-permanent.
The assortment of accessories are shown in the two images below. In the left hand image we see the aluminum stand, as well as a plastic base that snaps on to the stand. In the right hand image we get a closer look at the USB/AC adapter, USB cable, and mounting hardware. The plastic base could be screwed to a wall (or whatever else) using the included hardware, and then the dropcam stand can be securely popped on to this base for use. This allows for a very clean looking installation, and lets you remove the Dropcam without tools, if you should so desire.
