In Use:

Mounting the NZXT Bunker was pretty straight forward. Find an open 5.25" drive bay, slide the unit in, and attach the four provided screws. Finally, connect the USB cable to an empty USB header on your motherboard - VOILA! In the first image we have (from left to right) a USB cable from a printer, a wireless receiver for an optical mouse, and the USB stick from the previous section. The cable to our printer was thicker than what you'd find on most keyboards so the was a slight struggle to get the door closed, but there was no need to modify anything.

Conclusion:

NZXT has come up with another innovative case accessory that proves they're always one step ahead. The Bunker may not be one of those accessories that you may not think you need, but if you frequent LAN parties, or administer a kiosk-type computer, the Bunker is something you may want to invest in to provide that little bit of insurance against the loss of your valuable accessories. The Bunker could also come in handy if, like me, you have USB sticks and wireless receivers that protrude from the front of your case and could potentially be broken off by small children or pets. The Bunker provides the little bit of extra protection that could easily pay for itself.

Speaking of being able to pay for itself, a check of the Bigbruin.com shopping engine shows that the NZXT Bunker is available from Amazon.com for $24.99 (and shipping may be free if you're a Prime member). If you prefer shopping at Newegg.com, they have the Bunker for the same price, plus $2.99 for shipping.

The novel idea of a more secure USB hub helps the NZXT Bunker USB locking device earn the Bigbruin.com "Great Idea" award.

Great Idea

Pros:

» Fits in any standard 5.25" external drive bay
» Provides a 4-port USB hub behind a locked door
» Allows for the use of a variety of USB devices, with or without cables
» 20-key system decreases chances of theft
» Installation and operation is very easy

Cons:

» Design limits usage on far right port
» Thicker cables may cause closure issues
