Conclusion:
Ineo Technology has taken the time to make sure their first audio product is top notch. The build quality of the AlienVibes EP02 is what I would expect from higher end headphones; the finish is flawless and has a glossy finish providing them a little flash without being over stated. They have been dropped many time over a few weeks and they are still in perfect shape. The AlienVibes EP02 will be available in many colors to match your personal style, and the choices can be seen on this
Facebook page. Ineo Technology has also included everything that you should need to get the most out of these headphones. This includes a sturdy storage container, the 1/8in to 1/4in adapter, airplane adapter, and two different audio cables.
While I am not classified as a true "audiophile", I know what I personally like. The sound quality was incredible, and was definitely full and rich. Every sound was crisp and clear in all forms of music from jazz, country, pop, rock and heavy metal. I was able to turn them up on full volume and the sound never failed to be flawless. While I typically prefer circumaural (around the ears) headphones I had no issues wearing these for a full day walking around the office and in a server room environment. The noise cancelling really reduced the noise from the many servers.
As previously stated, the samples received are a pre-production units and these did not include the proper EMI shielding that Ineo Technology confirms that the production model will. As great as the headphones sound, in certain environments, there was some interference. Sometimes this would be a dull crackle, however it could escalate into a loud crackle or repetitive thumping. Most of the time it was masked by the music playing, but it was noticable in quiet spots such as between songs or softer moments. In an environment that did not have the interference issue, the sound was incredible.
These are difficult to give a final rating. On comfort, noise cancelling, manufacturing quality and sound quality, they could easily receive a "Highly Recommended" award, however these are pre-production headphones that have not quite been perfected. This is the problem when reviewing engineering samples, it shows the quality and what the manufacturer is going for, however sometimes there are flaws. AlienVibes has promised Bigbruin.com a final production model when they are available. At that time this review will be revisited to reflect the final version. I will definetly be keeping an eye on AlienVibes, it is always exciting to watch an established company enter a different product line.
When these go on sale, they should be available at
Amazon.com near the end of October or the first part of November and are expected to have an approximate retail price of $150.00.
