No surprise here; your first step is to download the app and create an account if you don’t already have one. Then you simply follow the steps as described in the app, and it is all straight forward. But I did have one small issue. When you pull the battery, the center ring illuminates different colors as it boots up. I kept waiting for this ring to turn green as described in the app, but this never happened. After a few minutes I took a closer look at the device and saw small LEDs that were flashing green. Figuring this is what they were referring to I then proceeded and the unit quickly paired.
Once the unit is paired to your mobile device you configure the rest of the settings. First up is if you want to share your data with them. It wasn’t quite clear to me what they use this information for. It would be nice to get some clarification on what is done with this data and with whom it is shared. From there you set your location(s) and you are all set.
At this point the device will need an hour to start providing any readings. But despite what they claim in their specifications, I don’t think this device is within 10% for the first 7 days. As you can see in the screen cap below, my first reading was less than 0.3 pCi/L. By the next morning it was sitting just under 2 pCi/L which sounded more reasonable. So regardless of what you see in the first 24 hours I would give it time to equilibrate before you go making any decisions on your home.
