Tuniq Ensemble 1200W Power Supply
|
The Cables:
As a unit rated for 1200W, the Tuniq Ensemble should obviously be capable of connecting to a large number of components. We already saw that a handful of adapters are included to extend the capabilities of the unit, and here is a list of connections hard-wired to the cables:
» 24-pin motherboard connections: 1
» 8-pin motherboard connections: 1
» 4-pin motherboard connections: 2 (that join to make another 8-pin connection)
» 3-pin fan connections: 1
» 4-pin drive connections: 6
» Floppy drive connections: 2
» SATA connections: 6
» 6-pin PCI Express connections: 2
» 8-pin PCI Express connections: 2
The below left image shows the cables intended to make connections with a motherboard. You have the 24-pin ATX connection, a 3-pin fan speed sensing lead, and two 8-pin leads, one of which can be split into two 4-pin leads. All of these cables (and the rest that we will see) have adequate lengths to reach just about anywhere in a typical tower case, and in case you need a few extra inches for some reason, don't forget the included adapters.
The above right image shows the PCI Express power cables, which include two 6-pin and two 8-pin connections. With the included adapters you could connect up to four 6-pin devices. With some modern cards featuring multiple power plugs (such as a 6-pin and a 8-pin connector on an HD3870 X2), this setup may limit you to two graphics cards.
The next two images show all of the drive related connections. The below left image shows the two leads that feature three 4-pin connections and a floppy connection on each. The below right image shows the two leads that feature three SATA drive connections on each. All in all, most users should be well set to for drive connections, and you could add even more without having to buy any splitters since Tuniq has included them.
Except for the 3-pin fan speed sensing lead, the cables are all well finished in black mesh that is even extended between connections on the same lead. To keep the look consistent, Tuniq has used black connectors, including the type of 4-pin drive connector that can be squeezed for easy removal.
