Sapphire Toxic Radeon HD4870 512MB Graphics Card

Testing (continued):
Devil May Cry:
Devil May Cry is a fast paced 3D game about a demon hunter. A benchmark is available to test the game's DirectX 10 performance, and it was used to compare the cards on hand. The benchmark runs through four scenes from the game and outputs the average frame rate values achieved in each one (higher is better). The results here were achieved at a resolution of 1280x1024, 8x anti-aliasing, and high settings.
The results are very close here, but the Toxic HD4870 beats out the other HD4800 series cards in all scenes but number four, where it trails the stock speed HD4870 by a fraction of a frame per second. With just two tests completed, I am already sensing that the slight overclock on the GPU really won't push the Toxic Radeon HD4870 to levels much beyond what the stock speed card is capable of.
PT Boats - Knights of the Sea:
PT Boats - Knights of the Sea is a 3D high seas war game that includes a DirectX 10 benchmark. The benchmark provides a minimum, maximum, and average frame rate value (higher is better) and for testing purposes a resolution of 1280x1024 (60Hz) and 4x anti-aliasing were used.
While the Toxic version of the card barely squeaked out wins over the stock HD4870 in the first two tests, here we see it actually gets beat by the stock speed card. While the margin of defeat is trivial in terms of maximum and average frame rate values, at least it can claim a consolation prize by putting up a higher minimum frame rate value.
