Packaging:
I was a little surprised when I first received the box in the mail. I was expecting something from NZXT, but received a box labeled as being from Cooler Master (recycling I suppose). Once I opened the outer box I was relieved to see the retail box for the Precise 1200 Watt power supply safely nestled inside. The retail packaging for the unit is rather plain, with a badge on the top that says "Precise", some features and specifications on the back, and more information / pictures on the sides of the box.
 
I could already feel the draw to this unit from looking at the box. The back of the box has the specifications listing not just four, but six separate 12V rails! I got the feeling that with the box being so simple this unit was also going to be fairly simple, no extra "bells & whistles", just serious performance. Opening up the retail box I was greeted by yet another box inside, and after opening this I finally got a glimpse of the unit and the power cord snuggled down in the bottom.
 
The Basics:
Pulling out the unit for the first time, I was surprised at how light it was. I was under the assumption that a 1200 Watt power supply unit would have to weigh quite a bit, but the unit weighs about the same as other 600 Watt supplies I have on hand. The unit itself has a similar finish to the box it shipped in, which NZXT refers to as "gun metal".
This is a modular PSU, although the ATX motherboard connector, a couple of the 4-pin Molex connectors, and the 8+4-pin power connector are hard wired.
Something to note is the cable length on this unit is much longer than most other units I have tested, which will be a nice feature if you have a large case.
