External Examination:
After removing the packing material, we get our first good look at the case. The below left image is of the front and top of the Lian Li PC-C36, and you can clearly see the black brushed aluminum construction as well as the silver “Diamond Cut” stripe running across the front face of the case. The front also features a power button, reset button, disk eject button, two USB ports, a Firewire port, headphone jack, microphone jack and LEDs for power and disk activity.
The above middle image is of the left side of the case (facing forward), similarly, the right side of the case also has three 70mm fan mounting points. We can also see the perforated area on the case cover, which is located directly over what will be the CPU heatsink when all the hardware is installed. The above right image is of the back of the case; note the two thumb screws holding the top cover in place.
The bottom of the case features the same black brushed aluminum and has a perforated area for additional case ventilation on the bottom right forward portion of the case. This is located directly below the the drive tray where one of the two hard disk drives and the optical drive are mounted. A closer look at the case feet shows that their design is similar to those traditionally found on home entertainment equipment like receivers, CD players, and amplifiers. They have non-slip rubber rings on their bottoms to give the case a very solid footing.
