Vantec Iceberq 6 VGA Cooler
|
Conclusion:
We all know that if your video card gets too hot that the stability and functional life can be decreased. Many stock coolers may get the job done, but the Vantec Iceberq 6 VGA Cooler may be just the upgrade for enthusiasts who aren't satisfied with just getting the job done. The Iceberq 6 dropped temperatures on the test GPU by about 13%, and as a bonus it dropped the case temperatures by about 10%. Another key feature of the Iceberq 6 is that it is extremely quiet. There was no distinguishable noise coming from the cooler once installed inside my case.
With the Icerbeq 6 you do not need to be concerned with whether it will fit on your video card or not. Vantec has made this a universal cooler, to fit "virtually all" modern video cards. The included list of compatible video cards includes all nVidia cards starting with the GeForce 3 Ti 200 and goes up to the GeForce 7900GTX. For ATI, it starts at the Radeon 9000 and goes up to the X1900 series.
The only issue I had with this cooler was keeping the exhaust duct in place while installing it into my computer. This was not mentioned before because it is such a minor issue.
A search of PriceGrabber shows the Vantec Iceberq 6 starts under $30, and searching elsewhere will reveal even more outlets for this cooler. This is a small price to pay to help ensure your video card does not overheat.
Given the performance and quality features, I award the Vantec Iceberq 6 Iceberq 6 VGA Cooler the rating of "Highly Recommended".
Pros:
» Drops GPU and case temperature
» Hot air exhausted out of computer case
» Universal installation options
» Extremely quiet
» Attractively priced
Cons:
» Nothing significant
