T-Series ET-CSTSIU2-BK Basics:
The first enclosure I will look at is from the T-Series, model ET-CSTSIU2-BK. This enclosure is a hybrid enclosure, which means it is capable of using either IDE or SATA.
In the below left image we can see the front and side of the enclosure. The side is made out of aluminum and has a smooth texture. The front is made out of plastic, and simply includes a little silver square with the Eagle Tech logo on it. There is also an attached base which will light up when the drive is powered on. On the back of the device we do not find many connections. This enclosure is only capable of USB 2.0, however there are other models of the T-Series that include connections such as Firewire, RJ-45, and eSATA.
To install the hard drive there are two sets of screws on the bottom of the device that will need to be removed. Once removed, the hard drive tray will slide out of the back of the enclosure. From here you shouldn't have any issues installing your hard drive. If it is an IDE hard drive, be sure to set it to Master prior to installing it. As shown below, both the IDE and SATA cables are connected to the PCB, and power to the hard drive is provided by a lead off of the PCB. Here they have pre-installed the standard 4-pin Molex power connector.
A closer look at the power connector on the PCB shows that it is easily removed to allow you to change from the 4-pin Molex to standard SATA power connector. Eagle Tech Computers has included the cable in the event you are going to use a SATA powered hard drive.
Finally we have a few additional accessories included with the enclosure. There is the required power brick, a standard USB cable, a driver CD (includes drivers for all Eagle Tech Computers enclosures), and finally a simple and easy to follow user manual.
