Packaging:
The IWILL ZMAXdp arrived from Geeks.com in the box shown in the below left image. This was just the outer shipping box, it was all done up specifically for the ZMAX series, right down to the coordinated straps. Inside this box was a retail style box that showed off the product and its features.
Every side of the inner box provides some sort of information on the product, so if this happened to be in a brick and mortar store it would be its own best sales tool.
External Inspection:
The ZMAXdp is available in two colors, red and black, and we obviously have the red version for this review. I have never owned a computer in red, and probably wouldn't have considered it previously, but it does look really sharp. The image below shows the front face of the chassis, where we see a stealth 5.25" bay ready for optical drive use, a stealth 3.5" bay, four USB ports, and a power button. Absent from the list of usual features is a reset switch.
The images below show the empty bays with their stealth covers opened. In addition to providing space for a floppy drive or card reader in the 3.5" bay, there are three more connections provided, including: headphones, microphone, and Firewire.
The below left image shows off one side where we see a chrome band separating the front from the side, some slots to allow cool air into the chassis, and the bulge at the back of the case is where the power supply actually protrudes just a bit. The below right image shows one of the accessories installed; an antenna for wireless networking. We will see later that a compartment under the chassis allows for a Mini-PCI wireless card to be installed, and once you buy your own card separately, the provisions for connecting are all provided.
