Tuniq Symmetry ATX Case
|
Conclusion:
Tuniq seems to have dropped the ball with this case; more things were found wrong with this case than any other I have seen.
Fresh out of the box the back panel was bent and the hinges were missing. After a closer look, I realized that a 120mm fan would not fit in the front intake as designated in the specs. Also the words "tool free install" did not ring true, this is shown in the hard drive bays, expansion slots and the front door panel which all require a screw driver to install. The door on the front of the case doesn't close all the way and creaks as it is opened and closed. The software to control the display is not included with the case and needs to be downloaded from their website, while doing this you may want to find WinRAR also because you won't be able to open the file from Tuniq without it (although Sunbeamtech has confirmed that they will address this an upload a ZIP file to their site).
Once the software is installed it is simple to control the bright blue display which doubles as a high temperature alarm. The only problem with this is if you like to set your motherboard up to power the USB connections when the computer is off, the bright blue light will remain on.
A quick PriceGrabber search shows the Tuniq Symmetry selling for about $83, a high price for a case that has so many issues.
The Tuniq case could be greatly improved upon, they do have a good look, but nothing seemed to work out the way it was supposed to. With the long list of negatives found in this case I am forced to give it a 0 out of 5 stars and would not recommend it given all the other choices on the market.
Pros:
» Easily configured front panel indicator
Cons:
» Case was bent right out of the box
» Hinges were missing (later resolved by Tuniq)
» Door doesn't stay closed
» Hinges creak as the door is being opened
» 120mm Fan did not fit in front intake as designated in the features
» Hard drive and expansion slot "tool-free install" proved ineffective
» Blue LED stays on when motherboard is set to +5VSB
» Software not included for front panel display (download from the Tuniq website)
» Software compressed using WinRAR instead of WinZip (to be fixed according to Sunbeamtech).
