Benchmarks (continued):
Everest Memory Benchmark:
The Everest 2.20 Memory Benchmark is similar to the SiSoft Sandra test. The values are provided in units of MB/s, and higher values are better. The results follow the SiSoft Sandra benchmarks, showing an increase in scores when overclocking.
3DMark06:
The 2006 edition of 3DMark offers a sampling of tests that are used to develop a composite score to reflect your system's potential gaming performance. The results are presented in unitless "Marks", and higher is better. The results show a vast improvement when overclocking your system.
Real World 3D Gaming:
Finally, we have some real world 3D gaming tests. I tried out several 3D games, and could notice an improvment in game play in every one of them. At 1280x1024 resolution, I ran through a few sessions of Quake 4, F.E.A.R. (demo), and HALO. The results below are the average frames per second values as recorded by FRAPS over 10 minute periods. Higher results are better in these tests.
As you can see by these tests, overclocking does have an impact on your performance. Even a modest overclock can make a big improvement in performance.
