Testing (continued):
The next set of charts show the data obtained from the Seasonic Power Angel while the idle and load testing described previously was being executed. The Power Angel takes a look at the AC power being provided to the system with each of the five power supplies installed to see how things may differ.
In the first chart we see that the power factor value for the Tuniq Potency 650W unit hit 100%, which I didn't think was possible. Units have generally maxed out at 99%, and this one was pegged at 1.00 under load, with just a few flickers back to 0.99. The second value shown in this first chart details the amperage on the 120VAC line. What we see is that when powering the same test system, the Tuniq unit finishes with better than average results. Drawing less current is better in terms of energy efficiency, so the Tuniq unit finishes second out of seven in that respect.
In the second chart we see the values for the wattage (W) and apparent wattage (VA). It is to be expected that the Wattage reading will be lower when the amperage is lower, since the supply voltage should be about the same and the equation is P=V*I (power equals voltage times current). Here we see the Tuniq unit comes in 7W shy of being the best and 10W better than the worst.
