ThermoLab Baram CPU Cooler
January 06, 2009

The Basics (continued):

There are five U-shaped heatpipes constructed of copper, which provide ten channels for heat to be carried up into the fins. All of the heatpipes exit the CPU block in parallel lines, but once they rise up toward the fins they curve in a variety of directions to distribute the heat more effectively.

The CPU block is constructed of copper which has been nickel plated all around. The CPU mounting hardware bolts to the four holes shown surrounding the base of the cooler, and there is nothing overly complex about the design. Everything appears to be well made and well assembled, and there is definitely nothing flashy about this unit.

The base of the cooler has been polished to provide a mirror finish. The image below shows the reflection of the camera in the base.

Accessories:

The Baram ships with a small cache of accessories, all of which are shown below. There is a user's manual, a mounting bracket/backplate for AMD AM2 processors, a mounting bracket/backplate for Intel LGA 775 processors, four spring steel fan clips (for attaching up to two 120mm CPU coolers), and a syringe of 'silver' thermal grease.

In addition to not lacking a fan, some people may be disappointed to see that the bundle does not include a set of hardware for LGA 1366 processors.
