Cooler Master Real Power Pro 1000W Power Supply
April 03, 2008

Accessories:

There are a few unique extras included with the bundle of accessories that I haven't seen with any other power supplies. The standard items include a power cord, manual, and screws. The two unique items are a Cooler Master "powered by" decal and a Cooler Master key chain with a bottle opener.

Internal Inspection:

For a 1000W power supply, the inside isn't overly cramped with components. The heatsinks are pretty small compared to some other units I have reviewed. In the top view you can see the hardware underneath the heatsinks pretty clearly.

The inside of this power supply is the most neatly organized unit I have reviewed to date, and the wiring is nicely bundled together. In the below left image you can see a side view of the heatsinks, two large capacitors, one inductor, and two big transformers in the middle. There are some green ferrite cores around some of the wiring to aid in noise reduction.

The Cables:

As with all the Cooler Master power supplies we have reviewed, the cables are nicely bundled for maximum airflow inside of the chassis. The below left image shows the ATX 20+4-pin cable and connector, while the below right image shows both the 4-pin and 8-pin motherboard cables.

The cables featuring the 4-pin floppy and 4-pin peripheral connectors are shown in the below left image. Each cable is the same, with one floppy connector and three peripheral connectors. The below right image shows that plenty of SATA drives can be powered by this unit as there is a total of 8 SATA connectors split on two separate cables.

The last set of cables are for PCI Express devices, and there are two 8-pin and four 6-pin connectors. The quantity and selection is a great feature so the consumer will not need to replace the power supply after a video card upgrade that requires more power from a different connector type.
