Fast? Confused

From my experience...they expire in at least 2-3x the time, in which cpu would be able to do it if it worked at 100%. Grin Wink

While that doesnt bother me - but if you find that too tight schedule...then you can always run "ordinary" client, which not only gives you less demanding WU's, but also you get more time to complete them. Smile

I hate the SMP client. It never runs right for me, I just run the console version(s), except on my single core boxes.

Kind of a pain on my Quad, but since it sits alot, it works for me.

Dont know for you, mrweasel, but I use SMP Client Version 5.91beta6 together with GPU2 client...and they both work together without any problems. I can do everything else I usually do, and there are no lockups or anything else.

Oh, and I just remembered...acruxksa asked whether gpu2 needs its own cpu core to work...and i said no...but now i saw that it does. Sorryyyyy....it wasnt intentional... Grin Wink But so what...cpu folding time is maybe 2-3mins per step longer than if you dedicate 100% of cpu speed to fold on cpu alone (11mins vs. 8mins), but in meanwhile...gpu folds like crazy...so in my opinion....its still better to fold on both if possible, than only on cpu or gpu alone. Wink

Happy folding everyone. Wave

When I first got my PS3, August 2007, it took about 7~8 hours to complete a WU. Then a few months ago, it was about 3 hours. Yesterday I turn it on do start a new WU, and its a day and 13 hours!

Can't wait to see how many pts this WU will get.

Be sure to let us know that, Modulok, so that we can all get PS3's and fold there. Grin Wink

Hmmmm....strange....because i.e. i get 1760 points from one WU (which "only" takes around 15 hours on quad core cpu). Confused Crazy

I always thought PS3 owners get much more points, because PS3 was known to be the king of folding...but now...hmmm...dont know anything anymore. Grin

I'll just stick with quad core cpu + gpu for folding (for now). Wink Wave

PS3's average approx. 900 points per day. No one really knows how stanford sets their point values, but it should be mentioned that the smp work units are BETA meaning that they frequently have issues that cause users to either get no points or only partial credit. Don't be surprised if smp work unit point values drop by about %30 when they are no longer in BETA.

Coincidentally most of the numbers I've seen for GPU folding put the newer ATI cards in the 800-1200ppd range, with some work units acheiving around 1500ppd. The key to getting higher ppd numbers with the gpu clients is to actually get the gpu to work at a higher load, meaning you need to keep cpu usage down so it can feed the gpu.

Most of the beta clients are pretty similar in their numbers, the difference is that the PS3 is one of the simplest ways to contribute to F@H. Maintaining the GPU and SMP beta clients requires frequent monitoring (clients expire regularly and need to be updated), which probably also contributes to their higher point values.
