|
|
So I bought a new motherboard... the ABIT AW8D. Great board, tons of nice features...
I didn't even think about it before hand, but knew it had two x16 PCIe slots. I assumed SLI for some reason, but it is actually Crossfire capable.
The weird thing is... Included with the nice bundle of accessories is a SLI bridge. Think its an accident or can I do something with it?
If you look at pics at stores carrying it, they show the bridge... listing |

The documentation with the board doesn't mention SLI anywhere (that I have seen yet), but they do talk about Crossfire.
I thought SIS (at least in part) became XGI... And XGI bought Trident, and then sometime not too long ago ATI bought XGI... |

From motherboards.org - "Strangely, ABIT decided to include an SLI bridge and a bracket. As the AW8D does not support SLI in any way this is very strange."

I thought ATI was going cabless for Crossfire. Still doesn't explain the bracket and bridge.
Unless they needed to add it to raise the price of the board _________________
