Computer turns on by itself?

The other day I hooked up a wifi setup for my sister and when I left everything was working great. The PC that is wired to the router started turning itself on randomly. I had her check the bios to make sure "wake up on LAN" was disabled. But I can't think of anything else that would cause this related to what I did, is this just a coincidence or am I teh suck? The only other thing I can think of is the power switch itself...any other ideas?

What did you actually do? Install a PCI wireless card? USB? PCMCIA?

You do have a touch for computer magic, but I have one question... Did you verify that Wake On LAN is disabled, or are you counting on her to have checked? My recollection is that the skillz aren't too strong, and you might want to check first hand!

Other than that, there could be other Wake On events triggering it, maybe a sticky power switch, or probably not likely a short.

Besides wake on LAN, their are anumber of other 'Wake on.."events that can be set including various schedulers, some of which work for you (update/run AV, AS, Etc.) and some work against you (virus, spyware,etc.)
best bet is to set an event log and then check as to what event happened at/to cause the turnon.

Just because you chaged to a wirelesss router (correct?) this may or may not be directly related

No I didn't install anything on the computer itself, I am using the built in NIC on the Mobo. All I did was disconnect the cat5 cable from the modem and connect to the router and configure it.
I did get a Vm from her today saying she called Dell and was told to do the following: Unplug the PSU, then press and hold the power button for 10 seconds, connect the PSU and done. So far this seems like it worked! They said it dissapates the static charge on the mobo...does that make sense?

it drains the mobo of electricity...sept for rom...dunno about static...
