Conclusion:

As it stands the Apotop Wi-Copy is a great option to the Kingston device. There are some places that the Kingston is still the superior device, but for many the added cost of this device is more than offset by the added versatility and ease of use.

My biggest complaint is with the SD card socket. When the card is fully inserted it still sticks out over half an inch, unlike the Kingston which sits flush. For a portable device I think this could be a reliability issue. If a user throws this in a bag with the card in place they could damage the card and or the socket. Another less significant complaint is that the battery status LED doesn't provide much feedback on how much juice you have left. Either an improved indicator on the device, or better yet some sort of digital indicator in the App would be greatly appreciated. As it stands now, you pretty much just know that it is charged, charging, or needs to be charged.

We have mentioned the price a few times, but will hit on that one more time. At Amazon.com it sells for just over $80 (US), which makes it just about $30 more than the Kingston MobileLite Wireless G2. These devices are very similar to each other, and both perform the basic tasks very reliably, but the Apotop is stronger in some areas and it may be worth the price premium to many users. While over at Amazon.com, it is also of interest to note that their review systems rates the Apotop Wi-Copy at 4.5 stars, while the MobileLite Wireless G2 has a 4.1 star rating.

Pros:

» App has a great feature set, is stable and is very easy to use
» Huge battery that gives great run time (14 hrs) and provides significant back up battery power.
» Travel router adds practicality.
» Auto bridging saves time.

Cons:

» Wish the battery LEDs provided more feedback or even better yet a digital indicator in the app to show % left.
» SD card slot is not full insertion depth.
» Photo browser doesn’t allow different views.
