Packaging and Accessories:

It is obvious from the packaging that Apotop is trying to keep costs down by having one package design for global sales. While a couple of key points and features on the front are in English, the back has 14 different languages. Because of this, the packaging doesn’t clearly communicate everything the device is capable of, which is a shame. While this will not affect online sales, I would think twice about making a brick and mortar purchase of this relatively unknown unit over the established Kingston unit; especially given the $30 price difference (current Amazon price Wi-Copy $80, MobileLite G2 $50). Beyond that, the packaging is well done and keeps the contents secure. Inside you will find the Wi-Copy, a quick start guide, and a short USB cable. One thing missing from this kit that the MobileLite includes is a microSD to SD adapter. A full manual is available for download here.

The Basics:

Overall, the Wi-Copy is smaller but slightly heavier than the MobileLite G2. I suspect the extra weight comes from the additional 560mAh of battery capacity. The case is an all-black rubberized plastic but it definitely has a solid feel. On the top of the device the Apotop name is prominent, as well as four LED indicators. The first is to indicate if the unit itself is charging, unfortunately this only has three states: off indicates it has a full charge, red indicates that it is charging and orange indicates it needs to be charged. Next is an indicator for attached devices, the third is the Wi-Fi activity light, and finally the last is a power indicator.

On one side you have the Ethernet port and a microUSB port to charge the device. Much like the Kingston unit, the Ethernet port allows you to turn this clever device into a travel wireless router.

On the other side you have a USB port which is either for external storage or for charging other devices with your Wi-Copy. There is an SD card slot and finally a switch to control the mode of operation. Basically the unit is off, in charging mode. or Wi-Fi mode.
