The Basics:
We will take a quick look at the main components of the kit, starting with the ECB2500C. This is the device that connects to your router and sends the data out on to your coaxial cable 'network'. The image below shows a view from above, where we can see three LED indicators on the left (Power, Ethernet, and Coax), as well as two coaxial cable connectors sticking out on the right. It is a compact piece that won't take up too much space, and it is just smaller than the 5-port switch it happens to share a shelf with in my installation.
The next two images show the connection panel from both the top and the bottom. There are the two coaxial cable connections, a reset button, the port for the power adapter, and a single RJ45 Ehternet port. Rubber feet on the bottom help to keep it in place, but this is one of those things that is so light that a bit of tension in the connected cables can easily move it.
Next we will take a look at the WCB3000N, which is bigger than the ECB2500C, but not all that large. For reference I would say it is about the size of my cable modem. In the image below we see it from the top and from this angle I would say it even looks like a cable modem. Along the front there are six LED indicators that brightly show the status for Power, Coax, both the 2.4GHZ and 5GHZ wireless, and both Ethernet ports. Not seen, as it is on one of the sides (which would be the top when placed on its stand), is a WPS button to make Wi-Fi connections even easier when used with compatible devices.
The next two images show the back of the device where we find a reset button, a pair of RJ-45 ports, a single coaxial cable connection, and the port for the power adapter.
