Conclusion:

Searching the web for the Kingston SSDNow V Series 128GB solid state drive shows that whether you want the desktop upgrade kit or the notebook upgrade kit, you're going to pay around $280 (US). For those of you haven't gotten used to SSD pricing and still think only in terms of traditional hard drive prices, that may sound like an unreasonable amount of money for a 128GB drive. But when you compare the price to other 128GB SSDs, it is really quite competitive.

This page at Newegg.com lists all the 128GB drives they have in stock, sorted by price from low to high, and notice who is holding down the spots for least expensive drives. Sure, some of these drives offer higher end specifications, but you definitely have to pay a good deal more to get them. Plus, most of the other drives listed do not include the handy upgrade kit components to make installation in your desktop or notebook about as simple as possible.

This is the second Kingston SSDNow V Series 128GB solid state drive we have looked at, and things have changed greatly since the first drive hit our test bench last August. While TRIM is now supported, and the published specifications for read and write speeds have doubled, the price is still incredibly competitive and didn't rise much at all compared to last year's model.

There are pretty much only positive things to say about this drive. Sure, you'd always like things to be faster, cheaper, and so on... But considering the current state of solid state drives, Kingston has created a "value" product that still manages to offer solid performance that would make this a good choice for a laptop or desktop computer.

The bottom line is that the new Kingston SSDNow V Series 128GB solid state drive is worth buying by anyone looking to add an SSD to their system that offers a decent blend of performance, storage capacity, and pricing. That said, it earns the Bigbruin.com "Recommended" and "Good Value" awards.
