Packaging and Accessories:
The packaging for this SSD is much like what Kingston uses on all their SSDNow V Series products. Whether it is a notebook upgrade kit, a desktop upgrade kit, or a stand alone drive, they manage to fit everything you need into this small cardboard box.
The front of the box provides some basic information including the fact that it is a notebook upgrade kit and that the capacity of the drive inside is 128GB. The back of the box provides just a few more details, but in plenty of languages. You really don't get a good understanding of the drive's performance from the packaging alone.
Once inside the box we find the items laid out in the image below. There is a bootable version of Acronis' disk management software, the solid state drive, a USB cable, and a compact USB enclosure.
The USB enclosure and cable are what make this bundle the notebook upgrade kit. You can place your new SSD into the enclosure, connect the USB cable to your PC, and then use the Acronis disk to clone your current drive to your new one. Once the cloning process is complete, simply move the SSD into your system and you should be up and running with minimal effort.
The enclosure is shown in the images below. It is a rather simple device, just slightly larger than a 2.5" drive. You unlock the plastic enclosure in order for the cover to slide off, you then connect your drive to the SATA data and power connections inside, and close it back up. No tools required, and once the USB cable is connected you should be all set.
