Packaging and Accessories:
The monitor was well packed and arrived undamaged as you can tell from the images below. The below left image shows that the monitor arrived in a plain brown box, and not the pretty retail packaging of a brand new unit. The below right image shows you the excellent packing that is used to protect the monitor during its time with the delivery guys.
Since I knew this was going to be a refurbished model, I looked it over for any evidence of use from its previous owners. This particular monitor was obviously well loved, since there isn’t a single mark on it. I am sure that companies such as Geeks.com have quality controls in place to prevent cosmetically damaged items from being resold, but you can't really be sure of what you are going to get until you open the box.
The accessories that came with the monitor were the expected driver disk, power cord, VGA cable and an audio cable for the built-in speakers. Surprisingly it also came with a DVI cable, so that was one less thing I had to purchase.
The Basics:
Everything came assembled so I didn’t even have to attach the base to the screen. Along the bezel are the brand name (Viewsonic), the model number (VA2323wm), and the Viewsonic "parrots". The below right image provides a close up of the control buttons found along the bottom of the bezel.
The next two images show the back of the monitor along with the connection ports for power, speakers, VGA, and DVI cables. There is also a “button” that will allow you to take the base off should you choose to wall mount the screen.
