Testing (continued):

CrystalDiskMark 2.2:

Five runs of CrystalDiskMark 2.2 were performed and the averages were calculated. The tests were comprised of sequential read and write tests, as well as 512k block read and write tests. In each of these tests, a higher score is better.

In sequential read testing, the Thermaltake Max 5G performed better than the MUKii U3 enclosure by 10MB/s, however the Thermaltake BlacX 5G did 12MB/s better.

The sequential write test came out slightly different. The Max 5G was again 10MB/s faster than the MUKii U3, but the difference this time is that the Max 5G was 7MB/s faster than the BlacX 5G dock, and 11MB/s faster than the Seagate GoFlex.

Reading 512K blocks, the Max 5G was the fastest of the drives on hand.

Writing 512K blocks, the Max 5G was again faster than the MUKii U3, however this time both the BlacX 5G Dock and Seagate GoFlex 3TB was faster.

Finally, let's discuss the dual 80mm case fans. Holding the Max 5G next to my ears, I was able to hear a slight hum from the fans. However, once the drive was about a foot from my ear, I was no longer able to hear the fans.
