Packaging and Accessories:
While you can buy this as a stand-alone drive, the review sample was provided in a desktop upgrade kit, as shown in the images below. The packaging provides just a few details on the product in a large number of languages, and there are no images of the drive itself.
The outer layer of the packaging is just a sleeve that slides over another sleeve, as shown in the below left image. This inner sleeve features multi-lingual information on the warranty, and none of it would be accessible in a store since the package is shrink wrapped. The below right image shows the plastic case that protects the components.
Included with the 40GB SSDNow V Series drive is a disk with multi-lingual manuals and Acronis disk management software, a set of 2.5" to 3.5" drive rails, a SATA data cable, and a SATA to 4-pin Molex power adapter.
External Examination:
On the outside, the 40GB drive looks much like the
128GB unit reviewed a few months back... A gray metal housing that features a data label on top. The label features the Kingston mascot and logo, the capacity, electrical data, and a varity of certifications.
The SATA data and power connections are found on one end, and otherwise the only features worth noting are all of the threaded holes provided for mounting in a variety of systems / enclosures.
