Internal Inspection (continued):

The next neat feature of the Burton is the removable hard drive cage. Pressing the red clips at the top allows the user to remove the entire cage with ease. Each of the five drive caddies are spring loaded. With a simple slide of the red tab, the caddy will pop out for easy removal. Each of the caddies are a similar design to the ones we saw in our earlier Sentey case. The trays are tool-less for 3.5 inch drives, but will need the included screws for 2.5 inch drives. For mounting larger 3.5 inch drives, there are two tabs on the left side that snap into the mounting holes and secure it in place.

The right side of the caddy has two locking pins and the spring mechanism. Unfortunately, the 2.5 inch to 3.5 inch drive converter was slightly too large to fit in the hard drive caddy. This certainly has to do more with our adapter than with the caddy as we've had issues with it in other cases - another tribute to the Burton's tight build tolerances.

The 5.25 inch bays are also tool-less. In order to utilize the mechanism, the user will press down on the red clip, which is also spring-loaded. To use them you slide the drive into the bay and press the pins into the drive's mounting holes, and then you re-secure the clip to lock the drive in tight. One note, if you plan on utilizing both optical drive bays, you'll need to use a short depth drive for the top bay as there may be some clearance issues with the front facing 120mm fan as seen in the second image.

Next we'll look at the back portion of the chassis. You can see the 120mm blue LED fan mentioned earlier. The expansion slots are completely tool-less and utilize a clip system that is fairly common in most cases these days. As with our other Sentey case, the expansion slot covers are ventilated but not replaceable once removed - thus the inclusion of the plain cover with the tool kit. Also on the back plate (not shown) are two water-cooling cutouts with rubber washers. These cut-outs are fairly standard these days even on mid-range cases and it's nice to see them included here.

The motherboard mounting plate is larger than on our previous Sentey offering because it will take an extended ATX server/workstation board. There is also a large cutout that gives the user easier access to the back of the motherboard for swapping out CPU coolers. There are also numerous cutouts for cable management.
