Testing (continued):
Passmark Performance Test 8:
Passmark Performance Test 8.0 has many benchmarks built into it, evaluating everything as a whole and providing individual tests for specific componets. We will be taking a look at the scores it provides for the individual disks in the system.
First up is DiskMark, which is a composite of the various tests. Like the previous tests, it appears that this did not get cached on the SSHD. With that being said, it did outperform both the Momentus XT and the standard 5400RPM hard drive.
As expected for the sequential read, the Laptop Thin SSHD performed significantly better than the 5400RPM hard drive, and was slightly faster than the previous generation SSHD, the Momentus XT.
The new Laptop Thin SSHD performs nearly identical to the sequential read test; it outperforms the 5400RPM drive and the Momentus XT by a slim margin.
The new Laptop Thin SSHD shines in the random seek test; it received a much better score than both the 320GB 5400RPM drive and the Momentus XT. However it still doesn't come close to the SSD.
