Testing (continued):
Devil May Cry (DirectX 9):
Devil May Cry provides a benchmark to test the DirectX 10 performance. The resolution was set to 1680x1050, the settings were on high, and anti-aliasing was set to 8x. Four sets of frame rate values are provided in the chart below (one for each scene tested), and higher is better for each.
Windows 7 Experience:
Much like what was introduced with Windows Vista, Windows 7 has a simple benchmark built in to analyze the capabilities of a few key hardware components. We will focus on just the gaming graphics and desktop graphics scores, as they are the only ones that should change from one graphics card to the next. Higher is better for these results, and the highest possible score is 7.9.
The 9800 GTX+ seems to get undervalued by this test, as it was able to hang with, or beat, the HD4770 and HD4850 in many of the other tests. Although not shown, while overclocked the HD4770 still put up a 6.4 for both tests.
