External Examination (continued):
The back of he unit is pretty straight-forward - Power socket, on/off switch, Seasonic label. Nothing but mesh for plenty of air flow.
Turning the casing around, we see the specifications of the S12D. With (2) 40A 12V rails, we should have plenty of power for our high(er) end components with room to spare.
The cables Seasonic uses are plenty long. The 24-pin main power connector reaches 18 inches, while the SATA and Molex connectors are just shy of 2 feet in length - something to take into consideration if you're actually using this in a full tower server case.
Next up we get a close look at the connectors. In the first picture below we have the 20+4-pin main power connector in the middle, the 4+4-pin connector for ATX power (or for a 2nd 8-pin power connector for server class boards) and the 8-pin EPS connector. In the second picture below we see the two 6-pin PCIe connectors and the two 6+2-pin PCIe connectors. I like this a lot better than having two 6-pin and two 8-pin PCIe connectors, as you don't need to use converter cables that ship with some video cards, or try to hunt down a set of 8-pin to 6-pin converter cables.
The last image is a close-up of the Molex connectors, which you can see has the handy release tab on it. This is a very nice touch and makes removing them from optical drives that much easier.
