Testing (continued):
PassMark Performance Test 7.0 Advanced Disk Test:
PassMark's Performance Test version 7.0 (64-Bit) is the first program to consider. Instead of running through this program's typical suite, drive specific tests from the "Advanced" tab were used to create something that may approximate real world usage in a few different scenarios. For this benchmark we will consider three different tests, and each provides results in units of MB/s (higher values are better). Published read and write specifications are of little interest in these tests as we will see different blends of reading and writing, as well as different percentages of sequential and random transactions.
The first test we will look at is called "Database", and it uses a 90/10 split of reads/writes, and 90% of the transactions are random. The 50GB RevoDrive just makes the other SSDs on hand look silly in this first test. Over 75MB/s faster than the next fastest drive, which is approximately a 250% improvement!
The second test to consider if called "File Server", and it uses a 80/20 split of reads/writes, where 100% of the transactions are random. The margin of victory for the RevoDrive gets even larger here, as its score of 387.38MB/s is about 234MB/s faster than the next best drive!
The final test in this section is called "Work Station", and it uses a 70/30 split of reads/writes, where 80% of the transactions are random. The margin of victory is decreased, but the result is the same... A solid victory for the RevoDrive!
