Conclusion:

The good news is that even at stock speeds, the OCZ Technology 4GB PC3-12800 Reaper ULV dual channel kit (part number OCZ3RPR1600ULV4GK) is a pretty solid performer. If you have the right hardware to go with it, you can also get some fairly decent overclocks and boost the performance even further.

While some may argue about the necessity of additional cooling on memory modules, the heat pipes used on this kit nice and cool. Even while overclocked and under the stress of all the testing, the modules stayed absolutely cool to the touch and the system remained rock solid without any crashes or glitches.

The bad news is you might have some trouble finding this kit. A quick check of Google and the Bigbruin.com shopping engine turned up just one source... Amazon.com. They currently offer this kit for $101.99 with free shipping. While there may be cheaper kits, OCZ builds rock-solid reliable RAM and the Reaper HPC ULV modules are certainly no exception. The few minor issues we ran into (which were on our end and not the fault of the modules) were quickly resolved with updating our test system's BIOS.

Now that we've had a chance to put the 4GB PC3-12800 Reaper ULV dual channel kit through its paces and have seen what they can do, we award them the Bigbruin.com "Highly Recommended" and "Good Value" awards for being cool under fire while also not stealing all of your holiday cash.

Highly Recommended Good Value
