Conclusion:
As more and more professional devices are moving to SDHC, having a high end card like the
Patriot Memory LX Pro provides the ability for fast speed and response time when taking photos or recording HD video. The comfort of knowing that your card can react as quickly as you can on the moments that count the most is unprecedented.
In our handful of tests the LX Pro did not achieve 20MB/s transfer rates, as advertised. Even though that is unfortunate, the card still performed very well at close to 18 MB/s in CrystalDiskMark's write test, which is much higher than the standard Class 10 rating (10MB/s) that the card is rated for. It also performed very well in our real world transfer tests, which justifies the need for having a higher class card that responds quickly and provides the ability to record HD content.
It's hard to come up with a suggestion for something to add or make better on the LX Pro SDHC card, but with the low performance it had in our random seek benchmark that would be one thing I would suggest that Patriot Memory could attempt to address.
The
Bigbruin.com shopping page finds the Patriot Memory LX Pro 32GB SDHC card at a few online retailers for about $60 (US). Amazon.com may be the most familiar store over there, but
Newegg.com also carries it for about $61 (US) with free shipping, which is about middle of the road for similar cards with this size and class rating.
For it's performance in the benchmarks we ran, the Patriot Memory LX Pro 32GB SDHC card receives the Bigbruin.com "Recommended" award.
