Accessories:
A handful of accessories can be found packed in the box under the enclosure. You get a small CD with the MUKii software utility, a quick set-up guide sheet, and a USB 3.0 Y cable. This Y cable has a USB 3.0 connection to connect to the enclosure, while the other end it has both a USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 connection. Since USB 3.0 connectors are backwards compatible to USB 2.0 the only reason for the other USB 2.0 connection is if the USB port does not provide enough power.
The Basics:
As mentioned in the specifications, the
MUKii TransImp TIP-230U3-BK USB 3.0 drive enclosure is made out of aluminum and is painted black.
On the topside of the enclosure we find the MUKii and TransImp logos. The lower right corner has the specific model identified; in this case it is simply listed as "U3".
One end of the enclosure has a red section that doesn't light up - it is purely for looks. The other end has the required external connections and a hard disk activity light.
By removing the end piece with the connectors we can gain access to the internal interface. It uses a standard 2.5" SATA drive interface, and installing a drive requires the lining up of the connectors and sliding the SATA connector onto the hard drive.
