In Use / Conclusion:

With the mouse out of the package I was immediately prepared to dislike it. Of all the compact notebook mice I have used, this one appeared to be the smallest, and I expected it to be uncomfortable.

What I found is that while from front to back it is quite small, the more substantial height and width allowed it to fit comfortably under my first few fingers and it felt rather good. The non-slip inserts on the sides and the contoured top surface contributed to my positive experience, and overall I'd have to say it was more comfortable to use than many other mini mice I have used... and perhaps it is better than some full sized mice that I have used that were just too low profile. I wouldn't go so far as to replace a full sized mouse with this at my desk, but for use on the road the balance of comfort, features, and portability are well done.

After a week plus of regular use, and occasionally forgetting to turn it off manually, I am still on the first battery and have not seen the low battery indicator light up. I can't say for sure how long I expect the battery to last, but the norm with this kind of mouse might be weeks to months... even with the generic battery thrown in by the manufacturer.

The main negative comment I have for this mouse is that the scroll wheel is free spinning. I prefer the ratchet-like action found on most wheels so that you have a little bit of feedback on the motion. While it takes some effort, you can get this wheel spinning and have it continue well after you have lifter your finger, which can obviously create undesired results as pages scroll out of control.

The Logisys MS6801 may be a tiny little mouse, but I would argue that you get way more than you might expect for $15.50. For this, it earns the Bigbruin.com "Good Value" award.

Good Value

Pros:

» Compact size, but still fits an average sized adult hand
» On-the-fly DPI adjustment
» Uses a tiny "nano" USB receiver
» For $15.50 you get a well constructed mouse with some nice features

Cons:

» May be too small for extended use by those with larger hands
» Scroll wheel is free spinning - ratcheting would be preferred for more controlled motion
